The Personal Calibration
Permission to ‘what-if’ your own work.
Sixty minutes with Jason Malouin. Sanctioned space to think sideways about what you really do… and walk away with one sentence in your own voice you can use immediately.
The sentence is the proof. The permission is the point.

THIS IS NOT A COACHING CALL
Most of the language you use to describe yourself… your work was handed to you by someone else... your industry's vocabulary, your title's vocabulary, the words of whoever happened to be in the room the first time you had to introduce yourself.
One day you notice - even though it’s honest, none of it really sounds like you. But... quietly, expensively... you keep using it anyway.
Because the alternative is to ‘what-if’ your own positioning. And most professionals just can't. Every time a lateral thought shows up... trying on a sharper, truer way to say what you do... that little gatekeeper in your mind shuts it down before you've even looked at it. That's not professional. That won't hold up. That sounds vague. Stay on script. So you hedge. You round yourself off to the nearest safe version. And the gap between who you actually are and what you say about yourself becomes the most expensive thing in the room.
This isn't about creating content. It's about sitting in your context.
Content is downstream. The tagline, the bio, the pitch... what you say once you already know what you're saying. Context is upstream... the source all of it grows from. And it was never a wording problem, so no copywriter can hand it to you. Get the context right... and the content takes care of itself.
The Personal Calibration is sixty minutes of sanctioned space to follow that thought right past the gatekeeper... to play in possibility without leaving your precision behind. And about that word - "permission" - because it could sound soft… this isn't. I'm not handing you permission to be yourself. It was always yours. The Calibration just clears what's been sitting in the way.
What you walk away with is one sentence in your own voice. Specific. Resonant. Yours. Sharp enough to use the moment you stand up... on a website, in a pitch, in the next room you walk into. It’s not some flimsy tagline. It's the gold that was already there... just beneath the surface.
And the sentence isn't really the point. It's just proof the permission landed. Because the permission itself doesn't expire when the call ends... you carry it into the next thing you write, the next time you introduce yourself, the next decision about how you show up…. And straight into the portrait session - when it’s time.
"You saw something in me from the beginning, and I appreciate you reflecting that back. You caught that, Jason — and this is why your work is so important. It shows who I am, and not just the voice of an interpreter. That is how powerful your work is.”
— Modi Lawson
HOW IT WORKS
1. You pay $497 and I send you a short exercise I created called Identity Alchemy.
Fifteen forced choices that look easy... but aren't. You answer fast, from the gut. About five-ten minutes, when you've got the headspace to do it properly.
2. You book a 60-minute conversation at a time that suits you.
We meet on Zoom. Leave at least three days between booking and the call... that's the time I need to prepare your first-pass unpacking from your answers.
3. We sit down and unpack what surfaced... together.
The prep gestures at things. The conversation is where they sharpen. By the end you'll have one sentence in your own voice you didn't walk in with... and the same lateral thinking you can keep using long after we hang up.
WHO THIS IS FOR
The Personal Calibration is for professionals who've built a reputation that doesn't quite match the language they're using to describe it.
You've operated in rooms where perception shapes outcomes long before competence gets a word in. Your work has changed. Your title might have changed. The way you talk about it just hasn't caught up... and that costs you something every single time you introduce yourself.
This isn't excavation. It isn't therapy. You won't be digging for something buried. It's the opposite... noticing what's already lying right there on the surface... the things you've walked past your whole career... and naming them precisely enough that nobody can copy them.
IT’S NOT FOR
Someone hunting for a tagline. A tagline is downstream... marketing shorthand. This is the upstream work it grows from.
Someone who's already got the language and just wants validation. This is for the ones whose words aren't quite landing yet.
Someone who wants me to tell them who they are. I don't do that. I help you hear what you're already saying.
"I feel like this process has helped me see a side of myself that I don't often see. I know it's there - but it has never come out before."
— Elizabeth C.
WHO YOU'RE WORKING WITH.
I'm Jason Malouin. I run a premium portrait practice here in Australia called Superpower Portraits... working mostly with established professional women whose visual identity no longer matches the reputation they've built.
The Personal Calibration is the same Calibration work that anchors every one of my portrait sessions... offered on its own, for people who want to do the language piece without the camera.
I'm not a coach... and I'm not a brand strategist. I'm a craftsman... and the craft happens to be helping people recognise themselves more clearly.
Sometimes the camera's the tool. Sometimes the conversation is. Both do the same thing... the kind of work that makes you sit forward and think “woah… that's actually me.”
